<image:title>Traditional - "Mary Dunch's Chair"</image:title>
<image:caption>A recreation of a Caqueteuse Chair in English Oak. This chair was produced as part of a project for The National Trust and the BBC, at Avebury Manor in Wiltshire. The aim was to create a room of furniture as it would have been if you had walked into the room in 1540. The design is based on a favorite chair of mine from the period, and intended to be the chair used by the wife of the owner of Avebury Manor at the time, William Dunch. The name caqueteuse translates to gossip's chair.</image:caption>

<image:title>Traditional - William Dunch's chair</image:title>
<image:caption>Perhaps a slightly unusual choice of design, but what I would consider an elegant chair of its type from the period. Based heavily on a Welsh chair from the period belonging to a wealthy man with strong links to Elizabeth 1 and the Tudor court - as was William Dunch.</image:caption>

<image:caption>A recreation of a four poster bed in Honduran Mahogany, with a gilded canopy. The design is an adaptation of a collection of component parts supplied by the client, originally used in a number of beds from different periods. From these parts we refined the design into a beautifully elegant and functional bed.</image:caption>

<image:title>The Process</image:title>
<image:caption>Whether designing from scratch, reproducing a traditional piece or adapting an existing design, the process will usually start with a visit to site to see where the piece of furniture will eventually live. From there, ideas for the design can be discussed along with the options for the materials to be used. Drawings and colour representations follow, along with estimates of the costs. Once a decision is made, a timetable can be set and materials sourced. You may wish to wait and see the piece for the first time when it is completely finished, or alternatively as many people enjoy, follow the process more closely from the raw materials through the making to the finishing.</image:caption>

<image:title>Treehouses & other stuff - Payton's Treehouse</image:title>
<image:caption>Built during the summer of 2015, this small child's "treehouse" was initially intended to be in an old Apple tree. The health of the tree was a concern, and as there were no other suitable trees, the choice was made to build it on its own free-standing platform. The platform is constructed from a mix of Douglas Fir and treated soft wood. The house frame is in treated soft wood, insulated throughout and clad both on the inside and out with Western Red Cedar. Western Red Cedar shingles were also used on the roof, the windows double glazed and a basic electrical system installed to power lights and a heater so that the house can be used year-round</image:caption>

<image:title>"BUTCH" Boards - Black Walnut Alaia</image:title>
<image:caption>I've had a number of requests from surfers as to whether I could make a board in the style of an Alaia using the same construction methods as the belly boards. Alaias are traditionally solid wood, fin-less surfboards. So the aim is to take the style and performance characteristics of the Alaia, and try to build on that by adding extra buoyancy, and because the board is shaped by vacuum laminating, develop a shape that would be more difficult if shaped from solid, and hopefully improve the performance. The first board has been tested and the results were better than I could have hoped for. A second, and slightly altered board is now under construction. This board is 5ft 8inches long, 18 inches wide and 1.25 inches thick. The outer veneers are American Black Walnut, with a Balsa wood and 1 inch thick foam core. The surface finish is fibreglass with a bio-resin. Please contact me for further information. </image:caption>
